CCFA Safety and Survival programs can be conducted in acquired structures, training facilities, or fire stations. All programs can be customized to fit any department’s training needs. Drill night sessions are also available for all areas of training as well as refresher training. |
Mayday Recognition |

Designed to educate the firefighter on how to recognize emergency situations and get the help needed to mitigate the situation. Students will be able to determine the difference between Mayday vs. Urgent messages and the proper uses of both. |
Managing The Mayday |

This program will prepare the command level as well as the company level officers for handling and coordinating firefighter emergencies that may be encountered. The fire ground is a dynamic place with constantly changing conditions putting our members at extreme risks. We must know how to coordinate these situations so everyone goes home. |
Firefighter Self-Rescue & Survival |

Every firefighter must know how to mitigate fire ground emergencies that we are confronted with everyday. Students will learn to identify situations that get firefighters killed, how to take measures to avoid these situations, and learn survival procedures. Techniques learned will include Situational Awareness, Mayday Transmissions, Dis-Entanglement, Window Egress, & SCBA Confidence. |
Rapid Intervention Crew – Awareness |

To understand the need for Rapid Intervention Crews (RIC) on the fire ground, to be aware of the reasons for firefighter fatalities, the laws requiring RIC, and what it takes to assemble an effective firefighter rescue team. Focusing on the proactive tasks and RIC size-up to make the fire ground safe. |

To learn how to affect and plan for potential firefighter rescue situations after the Mayday has been transmitted on the fire ground. The fundamental firefighter rescue skills will be learned to provide a foundation to initial firefighter rescue efforts. Practical Skills to include: RIC Search & Packaging, Drags/Carries/Stair Removals, Window Removals, Floor Removals & Denver Drill. |
Rapid Intervention Crew – Advanced Ops |

Program is designed to educate students on how to effectively start firefighter rescue operations when encountering collapse or extremely challenging situations. Focus shall be on the initial RIC companies utilizing common tools carried by companies providing RIC services. Single vs. Multiple firefighter rescue situations will be encountered. Extremely labor intensive as well as team work required. |
Rapid Intervention Crew – Competencies |

How proficient are you and your RIC members on your skills on rescuing our own? To remain proficient on your previously learned skills you must put them to use or maintain your training levels. This program is designed to test the student on their knowledge, skills, & abilities that they have developed from previous training & experiences. The students will be put through various firefighter rescue scenarios during the initial stages of fire ground emergencies. This will help the student maintain the expected levels of competency needed when providing rapid intervention crew services. |
FD Personal Harness Use |

The personal harness has become a common piece of firefighter’s PPE and is being worn routinely on their firefighting gear This harnesses can be worn externally, integrated into the bunker pants, or a part of a personal escape system. This program is a must for any firefighter utilizing a fire department personal harness. Students shall learn a variety of ways to utilize the harness to rescue trapped victims, firefighters, and most importantly themselves! |
Cutting & Burning for FF Rescue |
12 hour – Lecture/Hands On |

This program will educate firefighters on the capabilities and limitations of metal cutting devices being carried on their apparatus to be used during proactive and reactive firefighter rescue situations. Students will learn safe use & practices during emergency situations requiring metal cutting operations. Students will rotate through several skill stations learning the uses of metal cutting saws and various torch cutting systems.
